{nl}The June Buchanan School is proud to announce the addition of four new faculty members for the 2010-2011 school year.  Mrs. Cindy Hall will be teaching 3rd Grade Reading, Middle School Social Studies, Speech/Appalachian Literature, and Learning Strategies.  Mrs. Hall was previously employed at Mountain Christian Academy for 23 years before its closing in 2009.  During her tenure at MCA, Mrs. Hall taught a variety of subjects including English, Literature, History, and German.  She received both her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from Morehead State University.  Mrs. Hall has been married for 30 years to her husband, David.  They have two children: Katie (25) and Ian (16). Mr. Simeon Brace will be teaching Environmental Science, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and Anatomy.  He was raised in Michigan until his eighth grade year when his family moved to Kentucky.  After completing high school, Mr. Brace returned to Michigan to attend Cornerstone University in Grand Rapids where he earned his degree in Integrated Science.  In his spare time, Mr. Brace enjoys playing the guitar, spending time with his family, and riding his motorcycle down the beautiful highways of southeastern Kentucky. Mrs. Angie Spady has volunteered to teach Studio Art and Arts and Humanities this year.  She has been involved with JBS for several years and is a resident of Knott County.  Additionally, Mrs. Spady will be sponsoring the new ACE (Art, Culture, and Enrichment) club.  This club will immerse JBS honor students in art and theatre activities. Some of the planned activities include visiting major U.S. museums, Broadway shows, and real artist workshops. Mr. Darcy Owens, from Fisty, Kentucky, has been hired to teach K-7 Physical Education and Freshman English.  Mr. Owens is a Knott County Central High School graduate and attended Midway College.  At Midway, he earned his education degree in Elementary and Middle School Language Arts.  In addition to his teaching duties, Mr. Owens will be serving as the new Athletic Director for JBS.  He is very excited about this position and stated that “The future of June Buchanan sports could not be brighter.  We have the coaches and students to achieve great and lasting success.  Our talent is unmatched and our potential limitless.”  With these wonderful additions to The June Buchanan School faculty, the 2010-2011 school year will surely be outstanding!  If you would like more information on The June Buchanan School, please contact us by phone at (606) 368-6108.
