The Alice Lloyd Eagles came out of the gates strong and defeated the Spaulding University Golden Eagles, 65-63. The Golden Eagles are members of NCAA Division III.{nl}Both clubs played hard in the first twenty minutes, but the Eagles, sparked by 11 points from sophomore Nick Brumback, were able to take a slight 33-31 lead at intermission. {nl}In the second half, Spaulding fought tooth and nail. Paced by a combined 28 points from guards DeWhon McAfee and Cody Cutsinger, they refused to go away. {nl}Fortunately, the young Eagles maintained their poise over the final stanza. Any time SU would tie the game, ALC managed to get a needed bucket. After forty hard fought minutes, Alice Lloyd was able to withstand every challenge that the Golden Eagles threw at them, as they earned their second consecutive win.{nl}For ALC (4-5), two players cracked double digits. They were led in scoring by Brumback, who finished with 18. Junior guard Daniel Combs contributed 14.{nl}For SU (3-6), they were led in scoring by McAfee and Cutsinger with 24 and 17 points respectively.{nl}ALC returns to action on Tuesday, December 15, looking to even their record, when they entertain the Union College Bulldogs. Tipoff is scheduled for 7pm.
