Trailing by 17 points with 15:00 remaining in the contest, the Alice Lloyd Lady Eagles mounted a furious comeback and knocked off Appalachian Athletic Conference foe, the University of Virginia-Wise Lady Cavaliers, 107-104. The entertaining matchup took place before a large crowd at the Grady Nutt Athletic Center.{nl}Both clubs played hard in the first twenty minutes, but the Lady Cavaliers rode a flurry of bombs to build a 59-45 lead by intermission. Wise opened the second half on fire, and five minutes into the second stanza, they still maintained a cushion of 17 points.{nl}At this point, the Lady Eagles began to slowly eat into the deficit as UVW’s hot shooting finally cooled off. Sparked by the guard play of Gemma Grey and Bree Frazier, combined with inside work from Nicole Lutes and Alison Feltner, ALC connected on several tough shots to gain some much needed momentum. {nl}As the game entered crunch time, Alice Lloyd had trimmed the deficit to only five (95-90). The Lady Eagles took their first lead (102-101) when Feltner connected from inside the paint with 1:15 to play. On the ensuing possession, Wise connected on a three pointer to give them the lead (104-102). ALC’s Lutes than tied the contest with 32 seconds remaining, and UVA had the ball with the opportunity to hold for one shot.{nl}Rather than run the clock down, however, the Lady Cavaliers went for a quick hitter that missed the mark. Feltner corralled the rebound for ALC and was fouled. The sophomore coolly sank two free throws to give her club a 106-104 advantage. On their next possession, Wise lost the ball and the Lady Eagles received possession. ALC’S Grey was then fouled at the 3.5 mark, and the sophomore hit 1-2. UVW’s Amber Carter furiously rushed down court looking to get off a shot, but her 35 footer was off at the buzzer.{nl}For ALC (3-6), four ladies cracked double digits. They were led in scoring by Grey with 26 and junior forward Lutes with 20.  Feltner finished with 19 points and junior guard Frazier chipped in with 12.{nl}For UVW (3-4), they were led by Carter with 17 points, and Ayla Young with 14. Jaydee Brewer, Charlotte Reasor, and Chelsea Cluesman added 12, 12, and 11 points respectively.  {nl}ALC returns to action on Thursday, December 3, when the Pikeville Lady Bears invade GNAC for an 8pm matchup.
