First Annual ALC Trunk or Treat

       {nl}Alice Lloyd College brought an abundance of smiles to many area children this Halloween as they hosted the first annual “Trunk or Treat” on campus. The event took place on October 29th from 6pm till 8pm.{nl}ALC’S Dean of Students and head baseball coach, Scott Cornett, helped organize the festivities. “Our goal in planning this was to get all of our student groups, clubs, organizations, and athletes, involved in a community project, as well as gives our young men and women the opportunity to give a little something back to the region that has been so supportive of us.”{nl}In “Trunk or Treat”, groups of college students brought their vehicles to various areas on campus with the trunks stuffed full of tasty treats that the little ghosts, goblins, super heroes, and princesses would love. When the children came by, the college students took time to talk with each of them and comment on the kids costumes. Many of the ALC students themselves dressed the part, which helped add to the fun factor.{nl}Gary D. Stepp, ALC’s Director of Athletics, added, “I was extremely pleased with the response from our college students. They really took to this so well and went above and beyond what we expected. Hopefully we can make this a mainstay on our campus, because the turnout was excellent.”{nl}Senior baseball player Adam Adkins was one of the many students to participate. “I thought it was great to interact with the children. It made me and my fellow teammates feel really good to see the smiles that we brought to the kids faces. If it is possible, I think we had more fun than the children did!”{nl}Senior Brittney Adams commented, “I have been at Alice Lloyd for four years. In the past we would hand out candy from our dorms and usually were only able to see the children of faculty and staff members. By having the “Trunk or Treat”  we were able to interact with so many more children and I was given the opportunity to meet with families that I haven’t known before. It was a very rewarding experience for not only me, but my friends as well.”{nl}Mrs. Renee Bailey brought her daughter Amber to the event. “I thought it was great to have this here in Pippa Passes for the first time. I know that my daughter and the other kids really enjoyed themselves. The older students were all so friendly to each of the children and they went out of their way to make each one of them feel special.”{nl}
