The Alice Lloyd Eagles traveled to Wise, Virginia last night and suffered a 104-75 defeat at the hands of the UVA-Wise Cavaliers.{nl}The Cavaliers exploded from the gates strong and led by as many as 12 points (25-13) at the 10:04 mark. However, sparked by 9 first half points off the bench from junior forward Will Jones, the Eagles cut the lead to six (38-32), and trailed by only seven (41-34) at intermission.{nl}In the second half, ALC cut the lead to five (46-41), but aided by thirty seven second half free throws, the Cavaliers were able to increase their lead to 21 (77-56) at the midway point and were never threatened again. {nl}For ALC (1-2), three players reached double figures. They were led in scoring by Jones and sophomore forward Nick Brumback with 11 each. Junior guard Daniel Combs chipped in with 10.{nl}UVA-Wise (1-0) was led by the duo of guards Adam Hood and Pance Kecev with 26 and 21 points respectively.{nl}The Eagles return to action on Saturday November 7, when they meet NCAA Division 3 Emory and Henry University in a home exhibition game at 2pm. {nl}Regular season play resumes on Saturday November 17th when they travel to Madisonville, Tennessee for a return showdown with the Hiwassee Tigers. ALC won the first meeting on October 31 in a high scoring affair, 123-115. Tipoff is set for 8pm.
