{nl} The June Buchanan Crusaders will begin their next basketball season with an enthusiastic young heard coach. Tim Parks brings to his new post experience as a talented player as well as a coach.Parks was born and raised in Manchester, Kentucky, and is a 2001 graduate of Clay County High School. While at Clay County, he was a member of the 1,000 point club, racked up 800 rebounds, and played in three state tournaments.He continued his basketball career at Alice Lloyd College, where he was also a 1,000 point scorer. He played for the school five years (one year as a redshirt). He graduated with a bachelor’s degree in social studies education.Tim began coaching at Knott County Central High School, and was the coach of the junior varsity team as well as assistant varsity coach from 2006-2009. His JV record in three years was 38-10.Tim says he is excited about his new job. “We’ll have five really good high school players returning, including two starters. I have high expectations for this team.” Parks will also be teaching at The June Buchanan School in addition to his coaching duties.The position at JBS was enticing, Parks said, because “I went to college there and developed close relationships with people. It’s a friendly atmosphere, and I’m looking forward to getting started.”
