{nl} Alice Lloyd College seniors William Dillard and Corey Hairston traveled to Agnes Scott College in Decatur, GA for the 2009 WBA Exposure League Free Agent Tryout held April 17-18. Dillard just finished an outstanding collegiate career for the Eagles. As a four year starter, the native of Beckley WV was selected three times to the KIAC All-Conference Team. This season, as a result of his averages of over 19 points and 5 assists per game, he was chosen by the league’s coaches as the 2009 KIAC Player of the Year. During his career, he tallied just over 1,500 points, and led the team in assists each year. In speaking of his quicksilver guard, Coach Hammond stated, “It is exciting to have a player with Will’s ability, and see him get the opportunity to showcase his hard earned talent at the next level. He is an excellent one on one player, and is blessed with an unbelievable amount of skill and athletic ability. It is a testament to his tremendous work ethic, and his dedication to the game and our college, to see all that he accomplished at a height of only 5’7. I am confident that he will impress the scouts, and we all wish him the best of luck.”The 6’3” Hairston, who is also a native of Beckley WV, will take an extremely valuable level of athleticism and talent to the Georgia camp. Hairston, one of the most exciting players to ever don the royal blue and white, was a three year starter. He was twice voted ALC’s defensive player of the year, and is also member of the Alice Lloyd College 1,000 Point Club. In commenting on Hairston, Hammond stated “Corey is extremely athletic and has an unmatched passion for the game. He is an absolute work horse, who put his body on the line for this program every night that he wore the jersey. I am confident that these qualities can propel him to the next level.”Both players were members of the 2004 West Virginia High School basketball state tournament championship team (Woodrow Wilson), and both will be greatly missed by the College and program they have meant so much to over the last four years.
